First class thoughts

Hello, and a warm official welcome to you all. It was lovely to see you all over the last couple of days and thank you for your engagement.

We went over the weekly plan of classes, the assessments (running order being formal meeting on young people and debt, report on the aforementioned and finally reading analysis), an overview of what the unit is about and why it is so important on your HN Programme, a getting to know you session, which I presented some info on myself, too.

Hopefully everything reassured you that you are in good hands with my experience, but it IS a demanding unit, so full attendance and engagement is a must.

We also shared ideas and experiences on oral presentation delivery too, which was an excellent session.

I am looking forward to working with HN Accounts students again, as it has been a few years since I have, and you are the first at Coatbridge campus to take this Unit, as it has replaced the former Unit, Research Skills which you no longer take on your course.

So, what did you think about the first session, did you feel I explained things clearly, was the pace of learning appropriate and how are you feeling about things? All comments welcome below, thank you in advance.

All the best,

Mark

What is Communication?

Hello, everybody, and welcome to our class blog.

I thought this would be a good way to start the blog off  by asking that question - what is communication?

I will answer this question in the very early stages of my teaching, and each week we will look at various aspects of Communication and break them down in a systematic way to help the analytical process.

So, what do you think Communication is? Please have a go in the comments section below, and don't be afraid to jot something down. Learning should be open to question and discussion, after all.

All the best, and I will see you next week for the first session, either on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on when I am timetabled to be with you.

I will replicate the info I cover in classes with a post class e mail and documents will be uploaded to your respective Moodle pages, too.

I'm looking forward to working with you all.

Mark
