What is Communication?

Hello, everybody, and welcome to our class blog.

I thought this would be a good way to start the blog off  by asking that question - what is communication?

I will answer this question in the very early stages of my teaching, and each week we will look at various aspects of Communication and break them down in a systematic way to help the analytical process.

So, what do you think Communication is? Please have a go in the comments section below, and don't be afraid to jot something down. Learning should be open to question and discussion, after all.

All the best, and I will see you next week for the first session, either on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on when I am timetabled to be with you.

I will replicate the info I cover in classes with a post class e mail and documents will be uploaded to your respective Moodle pages, too.

I'm looking forward to working with you all.

Mark

  4. Great stuff, and all of the thoughts above are accurate, and they all will be covered in the Business Communication Unit across both classes. Well done, some clear thoughts have been 'communicated' right there!

  5. I think it’s writing formally and speaking formally, like you’ll need in Business.

Absolutely it is, and we will be looking at all sorts of communication forms in this unit: presentations, meeting skills, professional writing, analysis and more! Thanks for your input. Mark

I like this response, quite philosophical, biological and botanical! Yes, there’s a weight of intellect attached to this definition, as there was no context attached to it. We are going to be addressing Business constructs in this unit, but this might be my favourite response yet! All the best, Mark

  8. I now know it can be presenting, being in a meeting, listening, analysing, writing, reading articles and I learned a new word from you, being autonomous. Thank you and for the information you gave us in class too.

Top of the class, some great thoughts there, thank you! A blend of autonomy and working in groups often works well. See you next week on one of the days, Mark
